The 2023 “OPTO Taiwan” is being held with great enthusiasm. The International Conference on Next-Generation Compound Semiconductors is organized by the Photonics Industry & Technology Development Association and the Taiwan Compound Semiconductor and Equipment Industry-Academia Alliance. To highlight the achievements in technological advancements and international collaborations this year, a "Next-Generation Compound Semiconductor International Conference" was held today (10/26). Ms. Hsiu-Lan Hsu, Chairperson of GlobalWafers and Chair of the Taiwan Compound Semiconductor and Equipment Industry-Academia Alliance, delivered a speech, emphasizing the importance of compound semiconductors in recent years. With the rapid growth of industries such as 5G base stations, electric vehicles, charging stations, green energy, and servers, there is a significant increase in demand for high-frequency, high-power semiconductor components and ICs. Compound semiconductors, particularly Silicon Carbide (SiC) and Gallium Nitride (GaN), are essential materials in applications like B5G/6G, military defense, and space development. The Taiwanese industry places great importance on these materials.
